06.18.21 | Bird Sanctuary, Intern

Welcome to our interns!

It is very exciting to introduce you to the 2021 summer interns here at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary!  Make sure to say hello if you see them on grounds or helping out in the Resource Center!

Ashlynn Toles holding a Canada Goose

Ashlynn Toles is the Avian Care Intern for the summer of 2021 at the Bird Sanctuary. This summer she will be helping to take care of our captive birds, learning to hold our glove-trained Red-tailed Hawk, and working on projects for the bird exhibits.  She is currently a senior at Michigan State University getting a degree in Environmental Biology/Zoology. This is her first animal-based internship, but has always had a love for animals. Her favorite animals are the Grey Wolf and Fennec Fox. She is very excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to learn about animal husbandry.

Cheyenne Cope holding a Painted TurtleCheyenne Cope is the current Kellogg Bird Sanctuary Visitor Experience Intern. During her internship she will be creating the on-site educational materials for our Trails and Tales program, greeting visitors at the Resource Center, and helping out with some social media posts.  She is an undergraduate senior at Michigan State University majoring in Environmental Biology/Zoology. Cheyenne plans on getting a career in conservation and education. She usually spends her time paddle boarding, hiking, and doing crafts outside.
