Meet our summer interns!

Marie Kroneman Headshot

Hi, I am Marie Kroneman and I am from Okemos, MI.  I am a third-year student at Michigan State University majoring in animal science/zoology. I am the Animal Care Intern at the Sanctuary this summer. I am excited to learn more about animal care and the husbandry of birds. My internship involves completing the daily chores that include cleaning and feeding of our resident birds and assisting with medical examinations and running the store on weekends. After I receive my bachelor’s degree, I plan on attending veterinary school and I am looking forward to applying the knowledge I will gain this summer to my future studies.

Ezra Montero

Ezra Montero is the Visitor Experience Intern for summer 2022. He is an undergraduate student at Michigan State University studying environmental plant biology. Ezra has a passion for reptiles and amphibians, and can often be found knee-deep in mud chasing a frog. As a Kalamazoo native, Ezra is excited to be back learning and teaching about his home turf.
