Unfortunately, the forecasted heat for Aug. 27 makes it unsafe to band hummingbirds, so this event has been canceled.
Join us for a sneak peek of the smallest bird in Michigan, the Ruby-throated Hummingbird.
Brenda and Rich Keith from the Kalamazoo River Valley Bird Observatory (a program of the Kalamazoo Nature Center) will bring their expertise in bird banding to the Sanctuary. Brenda is one of only a few hummingbird banders in Michigan.
A banding demonstration will take place in the Pollinator Garden and inside the Auditorium a slideshow with information on the research and data collected through banding hummingbirds will be shown.
Members $6/adult, $5/college and senior, $4/child (2-17)
Non-members $8/adult, $7/college and senior, $6/child (2-17)
Space is limited and registration is required.
