At the center of our paved walking trails sits a building that we call The Overlook. True to its name, it offers an exceptional view of Wintergreen Lake. With renovations occurring in 2018, this space offers a heated resting place in winter, family restroom, and seating. The outdoor patio and deck offer a resting space and a scope for relaxed bird viewing. This building has gone through many changes and we are excited to share with you our plan for this community space!
Overlook Features
- Enjoy the view while staying warm and dry
- Read a book
- Play with toys and games
- Make a craft
- Just Ducky Play Zone for crawling babies to be safe and play
- Feather Friends activities from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology
- Rest, relax, and enjoy the Sanctuary
Overlook activities are geared more toward our younger visitors up to age 7. We hope to inspire children’s imaginations and encourage their love of nature with a dramatic play center, a cozy Overlook Book Nook, and themed crafts. Overlook activities will change each month of 2023. Stop on in and experience something new!
All activities are included with your general admission or membership. We hope these enhance your experience on your visits to the Bird Sanctuary. So, get out of the house, hit the trails, and make a stop at The Overlook.
