During Children’s Day we’ll be celebrating books, birds and kids! Special activities will include storybook hikes, free books, and information tables from local libraries and 4-H clubs!
Explore the trails at the Sanctuary, challenge yourself on the Migration Obstacle Course, ‘Read to a Raptor,’ read the story of the Ugly Duckling along the lakeshore, take time to write your own story, fold paper cranes and learn about birds around the world! Activities are in partnership with MSU Extension’s 4-H programs from Kalamazoo, Calhoun and Barry counties. Participants will be able to learn more about 4-H, which is the largest youth development organization in Michigan and offers a diverse range of topics and interest areas.
With the help of local libraries, the Sanctuary will be expanding its Little Free Library offerings for Children’s Day. Take home a book or bring books to trade! Local libraries will share information about their upcoming summer reading programs. Thanks to Richland Community Library, Comstock Township Library, Willard Library, Kalamazoo Public Library, Delton District Library and McKay Augusta-Ross Township District Library for participating.
Admission is free for all Children (0-18) and Sanctuary members; standard admission is charged for non-member adults ($5 for adults, $4 for students or seniors).
