Ducks, Geese, and Swans. The Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is a premiere area for birders interested in viewing migratory waterfowl. Originally started as a refuge for the now-familiar Canada Goose (Branta Canadensis), it was also a key player in re-introducing Trumpeter Swans (Cygnus buccinator) to the Midwest. Many species of duck, herons, and other wading birds are also occasionally sighted. The Canada Goose and Trumpeter Swan remain our most common inhabitants; many nest and raise families on Wintergreen Lake.
